Chandra: Liposuction of the abdomen and love handles. He also did a minor tuck that wasn't planned. Why did you choose to do this procedure? Chandra: I considered having it done for about 5 years before this. When the economy started going in the toilet, the price went down. They do it by laser, so the healing is faster. It became more affordable and more convenient, and that is why I chose to do it when I did. Why did you choose this surgeon? Chandra: Because he was close to me, so it was easy travel-wise. He was recommended by two people that I knew. I also checked around on the internet to see if he was Board Certified, stuff like that. What was the approximate total cost? Chandra: $3200. How many times did you meet with the surgeon before surgery day? Chandra: I went one time to consult before. I then went in to pay before the procedure. I didn't see him that time. Describe the day of surgery. Chandra: I got there very early, around 6:30. I was told not to eat or drink anything after midnight. They gave me something to relax my nerves. Had two nurses present. They numbed the area, waited awhile, and then did the procedure. I was awake the whole time. I was not given a choice about that because the procedure was done in his office. Was this inpatient or outpatient? Chandra: Outpatient. No option. Describe any post-operative visits. Chandra: With the liposuction it is common that you get a blotchy look in the abdomen. They do massaging to get that out. I went to about four appointments after. One was to check the stitches,etc. He used the ones that disintegrate so I didn't have to have the sutures removed. What was the healing process like? Chandra: I would say the most discomfort was the first 24 hours.I would rate that pain at a 5 or 6. I was pretty swollen. The other days the pain was pretty minor, a 2 or 3. What is your overall satisfaction with the surgeon? Chandra: I liked him very much. He has a good bedside manner and he is good at what he does. What is your overall satisfaction with the procedure? Chandra: The results are pretty good. On a scale of 1- 10, an 8. He gave me a mini tuck, when he cut the skin and sutured me back up, the skin doesn't meet flush. It's very minor. No one else would probably notice it. I could go back and have it redone, but I chose not to. Would you recommend this surgeon to a friend? Chandra: Yes, I would recommend the surgeon. I would recommend the procedure, but sometimes people have unrealistic expectations. What advice would you give to somebody considering this procedure or surgeon? Chandra: They made me wear something like a corset. It helps your body go back into shape. They recommended me to buy size medium. It's not cheap, around $100. I felt a little pressured to buy one ahead of time. I ended up having to buy something else because it didn't fit. You should wait until after the procedure to buy it so you will know what size you will need. What other cosmetic procedures have you had performed? Chandra: About 20 years ago I had my nose done. I was in an auto accident and my nose was broken. It wasn't really elective. |
