What procedure did you have performed?
Christian: Liposuction, stomach area

Why did you choose to do this procedure?
Christian: I've been heavy for a period of time in my life. I couldn't move around. I wasn't very health conscious. I always had a lot of flab on my body, and I wanted to feel better about myself. I had excess fat that wouldn't go away when I worked out. I considered it for about a year before I did it. I just didn't like having this flab on my body, it was annoying and embarassing. I wanted to feel better about myself.

Why did you choose this surgeon?
Christian: He was recommended by people I knew. They said that he's a good doctor in the field, word of mouth.

What was the approximate total cost?
Christian: $5000

How many times did you meet with the surgeon before surgery day?
Christian: About 3-4 times. We spoke about what he was going to do, and what to expect.

Describe the day of surgery.
Christian: I remember being put out, being put on the operating table, and the doctor told me not to worry. I was worried about something happening while I was on the table. I think the first thing I did when I woke up was put my hand to the side of my stomach to see what had changed but I was in a daze, so I don't really remember if I felt a change or not.

Was this inpatient or outpatient?
Christian: Inpatient. I was in the hospital about three days.

Describe any post-operative visits.
Christian: I went to his office, and we spoke about what he had done. Everything had gone fine. I had discomfort in the beginning and he gave me some medicine for the pain. He was very positive about it and I felt good about it. I saw him twice in the first 10 days and then every two weeks for awhile. Now I go once every month. I had the surgery done 6 months ago.

What was the healing process like?
Christian: It was painful in the beginning. Anytime you have something removed or cut, there will be pain. It lasted a week or 10 days. Then it started to get better. I can't remember the name of the pain medications I was prescribed. They did help with the pain.

What is your overall satisfaction with the surgeon?
Christian: He was a good surgeon. He has a hands on approach and his bedside manner was very good. He had a positive manner about things. The way he spoke so positively made me feel I was in good hands.

What is your overall satisfaction with the procedure?
Christian: Right now I'm happy with it. I look better,I feel better, I am much more happy with myself.

Would you recommend this surgeon to a friend?
Christian: Yes, I would recommend the surgeon, and I would recommend the procedure. I can't say it will work the same for everybody but for me it was good.

What advice would you give to somebody considering this procedure or surgeon?
Christian: I would tell them if they are really unhappy with the way they look, if they feel annoyed or embarassed about flab around their middle, that they should talk to other people who have the surgery and get a recommendation regarding a surgeon. Make sure your primary doctor approves of what you are doing relating to your overall health.
