Interview from peggy schwartz
What procedure did you have performed?
peggy schwartz: upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgery

Why did you choose to do this procedure?
peggy schwartz: I went the the cosmetic surgeon office for a consult for laser ( for a scar on my face ). I had not planned on discussing eyelid surgery. I knew at some point I would do it, but had no plans in the near future. I wanted to talk about the brown spots and trauma scar on my face. When the doctor pointed out the disymmetry of my eyes and suggested the lift and said this would help keep the focus on my eyes rather than my scar, in addition to the laser and some minor fillers. I did scultra also with the laser. I became fixated on doing the eyes at that time and conquering both procedures at once.

Why did you choose this surgeon?
peggy schwartz: My mom used him for a face lift in the past and was happy. He is older, more experienced.

What was the approximate total cost?
peggy schwartz: My parents helped me with the cost, I am uncertain of total- also the doctor did take percentage off because of the fact my father is in the network.

How many times did you meet with the surgeon before surgery day?
peggy schwartz: The only previst I made was the initial vist. Then I booked my surgery. My purpose was to review options for my brown spots and scar (s).However , this did lead to my deciding to do lids too.

Describe the day of surgery.
peggy schwartz: I remember everything, I was extremely excited and I did not have to take anathesia. Instead I took diprovan- anathesia is extremely scary to me. My procedure lasted about 3 hrs. The doctor was great and the nurses were wonderful. When I left I did so with an aftercare kit-

Was this inpatient or outpatient?
peggy schwartz: This surgery was done in the office, no I was not given an option. However, the drs office is right next to the hospital. The state of the art laser equipment is in the office which is great for the patient.

Describe any post-operative visits.
peggy schwartz: Several, at least 3- the dr. checked to see how the stiches on my eyes were healing. The fourth visit to remove some stubborn stitches.

What was the healing process like?
peggy schwartz: I did not experience any pain. Swollen eyes for about three weeks, but that is about it. They were shut completey and I just put ice on them until I could gently open them.

What is your overall satisfaction with the surgeon?
peggy schwartz: I am happy with the results. I have been told I look more awake. One eye healed much faster than the other and I became very nervous. Also, I was worried about a scar, it went away. The dr did a good job.

What is your overall satisfaction with the procedure?
peggy schwartz: I am too hard on myself to judge that. I did get good results but of course it can always be better. That is just me being critical of myself.

Would you recommend this surgeon to a friend?
peggy schwartz: Absolutely, he is in tune with detail and art which I feel is important.

What advice would you give to somebody considering this procedure or surgeon?
peggy schwartz: Take time deciding, it is your face, dont skimp. Work on your insides first, I have been in therapy for sometime and made sure that this type of work was not going to define me. It can be addicting.

What other cosmetic procedures have you had performed?
peggy schwartz: Laser, scar revision, work done on chin and nose
